How about those Oscars?

How about the Red Carpet special?

How about those outfits?

How about those musical numbers?

How about Guy Pearce (douchebag) wearing a Free Palestine pin?

How about that acceptance speech where those filmmakers of that shitty documentary got on stage and accused Israel of ethnic cleansing only three days after four dead hostages were returned from Gaza?

How about none of the Jews in attendance—and there were lots—donning yellow ribbons?

How about Adrien Brody winning Best Actor for a Holocaust movie and saying absolutely nothing during his acceptance speech about the Bibas family, the hostages, October 7, the international community's hatred of Israel, or the daily crimes against humanity committed by Gaza, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran?

This is how it is in Hollywood. Stick to the false narrative that the world-dominating Jews that make up 0.2 percent of the global population are the oppressors, oppressing from our oppressive Homeland, which is the size of a football field…or else.

Look the other way when Jewish women are raped and men sodomized…or else.

Shrug when civilians are massacred and kidnapped, and when hostages are barred from sunlight for 500 days and starved…or else.

Sigh and move on when babies are strangled with bare hands…or else.

I'm no industry insider, but it sure seems like if you advocate for Israel and stand up against Antisemitism, you're not welcomed back on the lot.

I’ve informally coined a nickname for the very influential among us, as well as some of our detached Jewish neighbors, who behave as though nothing has changed: “October 6 Jews.”

These are the Jews who are still living in the pre-October 7, 2023 past when the status quo was vigilantly self-silencing Jewish pride and expression, permitting and even participating in stereotypical jokes against Jews, ascribing more indignation toward the discrimination of others (including those groups who’ve demonstrated hostility toward us), pressuring Israel into a two state solution that it has historically sought and has been rejected by Palestinians at every turn, and normalizing rocket firing toward Israel, stabbings, shooting, and car-rammings.  

October 6th Jews are oblivious to and indifferent about this new era of hate that has seen a 300% increase of Antisemitic incidents ranging from vandalism and social media disinformation to battery and murder. They are impervious to the suppression of Jewish artistic expression in which venues cancel concerts, book signings, comedy shows, and fundraising galas. They don’t heed the failure of k-12 school districts and college presidents to protect students from Jew-hatred.

I understand that people have their coping mechanisms and that it’s healthy to unplug. However, silence during extremism has never aged well, and history doesn’t remember the ignorant kindly.

All of this said, I believe that the majority of Jews are aware and active in combatting Antisemitism. I see it in my community, synagogues here and around the world, and by influencers on social media. Plus, there are celebrities consistently standing with Israel, like Michael Rappaport, David Schwimmer, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gal Gadot, Gwyneth Paltrow, Debra Messing, Jerry Seinfeld, Amar'e Stoudemire, and David Draiman.  

I wish there were more, but we can’t depend on Hollywood. Our voices and actions are strong enough, and it’s time for October 6th Jews to wake up and join the fight.
